The Variable Pan Pots act like a built-in mixer for combining rear channelswith the front. Plus Built-In Mic/Line Mixing enables you to record from two 4-channel sources simultaneously, adding your own effects.
To check those impressive results while recording, the Three-Head Design offers Tape/lSource Monitoring. Result: You can make on-the-spot adjustments to assure optimum recording quality. A Microphone Attenuator is built in to provide distortion-free recording at high sound levels with sensitive microphones. And there's a Record Equalization Selector Switch, letting you use either standard or low noise/ high output recording tape with maximum benefit.
The TC-388-4 boasts Automatic Tape Lifters to protect the tape and tape heads from wear during high speed tape winding. And the tape drive mechanism is also protected by Automatic Total Mechanism Shut-Off (TMS), which returns all functions to the stop mode at end-of-tape in play, record, rewind or fast-forward.
