HEAD DEMAGNETIZER

MODEL HE-2

INSTRUCTION MANUAL

How to use

1.    Plug the Model HE-2 into an AC outlet. (110-117 volts, 50 or 60 cycles)

2.    Keeping the ON/OFF Switch button depressed with the thumb, bring the pole-piece tips of the Model HE-2 in close proximity to, but not in contact with, the face of the magnetic head. (RECORD/PLAYBACK)

3.    Then, run the tips up and down the center of the head several times for about five seconds. (See illustration.)

4.    Slowly remove the Model HE-2 from the head, still keeping the ON/OFF Switch button depressed. Release the button when the Model HE-2 is about two feet away from the head.

NOTES:
1.    Removal of the head cover will provide better access to the
heads.

2.    Be sure that the power switch of the recorder is in the OFF position when demagnetizing heads.

3.    Always keep the Model HE-2 away from pre-recorded tapes, as it will erase them.

4.  Remove wrist watch during operation.

With the accumulative use of a tape recorder, varying magnetic fields will gradually build up residual magnetism on the gap of the magnetic heads. Since excess residual magnetism in the heads will produce noise on the tape during playback, the head should be periodically demagnetized.

The Sony Head Demagnetizer Model HE-2 is designed for quick and easy demagnetization of the magnetic heads. The periodic use of the Model HE-2 is recommended to keep the tape recorder in the best reproducing condition.
