Another important feature of Model M-6 is the two separate frequency equalizers which are designed to provide correct compensation at each of the lower tape speeds. A special circuit is provided in each channel of the stereo amplifier to emphasise the high frequency response when reproducing tapes recorded at the slow speed.

It must be realized that only because the most efficient design, engineering and quality control in production at AKAI was made it possible to achieve the wide frequency range of 40-20,000 C. P. S. The selection of 2-track stereo, 4-track stereo or monaural recording and playback may be instantly accomplished by the Track Selector Control located on the Head Cover.

STEREO 4-track stereo is really two 2-track stereo recordings on the same tape width that in the past held only one 2-track stereo recording. By setting the Pointer of Track Selector Control in this position, it is possible to record or play the alternate tracks together. The first stereo recording is made on tracks # 1 and # 3. The second stereo recording is made on tracks # 2 and # 4 by turning the tape over.

1-4 MONAURAL : Monaural recording and playback on Track #1 can be achieved by setting the Pointer of Track Selector Control in this position and another recording and playback on Track #4 is possible by reversing the tape over.

3-2 MONAURAL : Monaural recording and playback on Track #3 can be achieved by setting the Pointer of Track Selector Control in this position and another recording and playback on Track #2 is possible by turning the tape over.
