Ampex ATR-700 Tape Deck Features

This unit was built by Tascam for Ampex in the late ‘70s. The unit is a two track, 2-channel stereo with 7½ and 15 IPS speeds. It has 3 heads but a space is reserved for an optional 4th reproduce head. The unit’s features a full logic transport for fast safe tape shuttle, 4 digit tape counter with memory function. It is direct drive capstan, servo-controlled. This machine features the synchronous reproduce mode which it makes it possible to switch the record head of either channel to the reproduce mode for monitoring that channel. Thus, channels recorded at different times are in perfect synchronization.
