Hi,

My name is Balu. I am from India.

I have a TEAC X-7R. I hadn't used it for quite a while. I just replaced the belt as the flywheels weren't rotating. The belt had become soft. The capstan motor is a DC motor. But after replacing the belt, the capstan motor was not rotating. When I lifted the tape tension arm, I can see the motor rotate a couple of times and then stop. After a while the capstan motor started working by itself. It worked for about 20 minutes and then stopped. Now each time I lift the tension arm, the motor rotates and then stops. Can someone advise? Is there a problem with the motor or with the capstan motor servo PCB? I do have the circuit diagram.

Thanking you,

Regards,

Balu
